GoHighLevel WordPress Integration, Built Around Your Forms
You can set up a GoHighLevel (GHL) WordPress integration in two main ways. Embed GHL's own forms with its LeadConnector plugin, or send your WordPress forms and orders into GHL.
I build the second route on GHL's API. You keep your native WordPress forms, and each lead reaches GHL with the right fields, tags, and ad data.

The Official Plugin
Why the LeadConnector Plugin Alone Falls Short
GHL's official LeadConnector plugin has 20,000+ active installs and a 2.3-star rating on WordPress.org (October 2026). It embeds GHL forms, calendars, chat widgets, and funnel pages. For a site with its own forms, that leaves four gaps.
Iframe forms.
The form shortcode loads your GHL form in an iframe from GHL's servers. Your theme's styles don't reach it.
Speed.
A request on GHL's ideas board called "Embed forms too slow" has 52 votes. One user reported forms taking 4 to 6 seconds to load. In August 2026, another said GHL forms were still unusable on WordPress because of speed.
No sync from your forms or store.
The plugin's listing doesn't mention sending Gravity Forms, Elementor, or WooCommerce data to GHL. A request for direct Gravity Forms support, posted in April 2021, has 164 votes.
Lost attribution.
GHL's help docs say GHL records UTMs only if the visitor submits on the page they landed on. If they click through to your contact page first, GHL can't record those UTMs.
What about GHL's External Tracking script? GHL's docs say it can send supported third-party forms, like Gravity Forms, with attribution. It skips iframe forms and widgets, so test it on your forms first.
Capabilities
What I Connect Between WordPress and GHL
Gravity Forms
Each field mapped to a GHL standard or custom field, with tags per form.
Elementor forms
A custom form action sends each entry straight to GHL.
WooCommerce orders
Buyers become GHL contacts with product tags and, if you want, an opportunity.
User registrations
New WordPress users sync to GHL, tagged by role.
Chat widget and calendars
GHL's chat and booking widgets, set up to load after your main content.
UTMs and ad click IDs
First- and last-touch UTMs, plus gclid, fbclid, and msclkid, saved to GHL custom fields.
Tags and opportunities
Rules that tag contacts and create or move opportunities in your pipelines.
Webhooks
GHL workflows can call WordPress back, for example to update a user account.
CallRail calls
Each completed call creates or updates a GHL contact, with call details in custom fields.
I connect with OAuth or a scoped Private Integration token. GHL says its old v1 API reached end of support on December 31, 2025.
Honest Advice
GHL Forms or Native WordPress Forms?
Both have a place. Pick based on where the form lives and what it must do.
Use GHL forms when:
- The page is a GHL funnel or GHL website page.
- Visitors submit on the page they land on, so GHL records attribution itself.
- The form is short and sits below the fold.
- Your team builds and edits forms inside GHL.
Use native WordPress forms when:
- The form sits above the fold on a page where speed matters.
- You need Gravity Forms features like conditional logic, multi-page forms, or calculations.
- You want every entry saved in WordPress as a backup.
- The form must match your site design exactly.
- You already have working forms and don't want to rebuild them in GHL.
Compare Approaches
LeadConnector, Zapier, Plugin, or Custom Build?
| Option | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| LeadConnector plugin | GHL forms, calendars, chat, and funnels on WordPress | Iframe embeds. Its listing doesn't mention syncing WordPress form or order data. |
| GHL External Tracking script | Simple on-page forms and their UTMs | Skips iframe forms and widgets. Test each form first. |
| Zapier | Quick no-code links between tools | Billed by task. Gravity Forms' Zapier add-on needs a Pro, Elite, or Nonprofit license. |
| Ready-made plugins | Form-to-contact sync, like WP Fusion | Features and pricing vary. One free tier maps only name, email, and phone. |
| Custom build | WooCommerce, opportunities, two-way sync, complex mapping | Higher up-front cost. Needs a developer. |

Build
I build on a staging copy of your site. I log every send to GHL, so failed sends are easy to spot.
Test
I submit each form and place test orders where needed. Then I check every contact, tag, and field in GHL.

FAQ
WordPress GoHighLevel Integration FAQ
Does GHL have an official WordPress plugin?
Yes. It's called LeadConnector, and it's free on WordPress.org. It embeds GHL forms, calendars, chat widgets, and funnel pages.
Its listing doesn't mention sending Gravity Forms or Elementor entries to GHL.
Can I connect Gravity Forms to GHL without Zapier?
Yes. GHL's External Tracking script is one option.
You can also pair the Gravity Forms Webhooks Add-On with GHL's Inbound Webhook trigger. That add-on needs an Elite or Nonprofit license, and GHL lists the trigger as premium.
Do GHL forms slow down WordPress pages?
They can. GHL forms load in an iframe from GHL's servers, plus a helper script.
Users on GHL's ideas board report slow loads and worse Core Web Vitals. Native WordPress forms render as part of your page, with no iframe.
Will GHL keep my UTM and ad click data?
Not always. GHL's docs say it records UTMs only when the visitor submits on the page they landed on.
I save first- and last-touch UTMs and click IDs in hidden form fields. Then I map them to GHL custom fields, so the source travels with the lead.
Can WooCommerce orders create opportunities in GHL?
Yes. A custom integration can create or update the buyer's contact, add product tags, and open an opportunity. You choose the pipeline and stage.
Do you work with marketing agencies?
Yes. I run Scope Nine, a white-label engineering studio for marketing agencies. You can deliver the work under your own brand.
